New 2017 Online Collage Workshop



2017 30-Day Collage Challenge Workshop
Jump start your creativity in 2017 with the 30 Day Collage Challenge. Creating art on a daily basis can make you a better artist, whether it’s gaining a new skill level or technique, challenging yourself artistically or simply seeing what dedication and commitment can produce.  A daily project is a personal journey that can offer you an opportunity for self-discovery and personal growth.    
During this 30-day online collage workshop participants will be challenged to create one or more collage every day for the next 30 days.  Those taking the course will be presented with a daily theme/technique to enhance artistic skills. Each daily prompt is developed to help with overall technique, design skills such as color and composition and basic principle of good design.
Most projects can be completed in about an hour.

  • downloadable printable image sheets
  • personal feedback for each project

The 2017 30-Day Online Collage Challenge starts Saturday, January 7 and continues through February 5. Entire workshop is only $85.  A material list will be provided after signing up.

Randel Plowman received his M.F.A. in printmaking from University of Wisconsin-Madison and his B.F.A. from Northern Kentucky University. He has exhibited in solo and juried exhibitions throughout the United States; in addition, his work appears in many public and private collections in North America and abroad, his work has been cited in numerous publications, including The New York Times and USA Today; been featured in The Paris Review, How Design magazine, Artist Magazine and Somerset Studio. He is the author of two books, Masters: Collage, and The Collage Workbook: How To Get Started And Stay Inspired, voted Best Art Instruction Book of 2012 by the Library Journal.

New 2017 Online Workshop - ART OF THE BOOK



Randel Plowman will be conducting a six-week online bookmaking workshop. Participants will be creating a variety of artist’s book during this workshop. This course will feature downloadable videos and instructions for each project. Exploration of materials is encouraged and students can combine other media that they are familiar with such as photography, drawing, printmaking, painting and collage. Students will learn the basics of hand-made book production and practice a number of binding techniques that can be done at home.

  •   Exploration of several hand-made book structures
  •   6 Weekly projects
  •   Opportunity to share your work online with others taking the course
  •   Basic principles and terms for bookmaking

This is a course for both beginner and intermediate artist.

Some of the books we will be making include: Japanese Stab Binding,  Concertina Binding, Pamphlet Binding,  Palm Leaf Manuscript and more.

New projects and videos will be broadcast every Saturday and will be available to view or download via the course website.

Excited to be included in this group printmaking show! If you are in the Northern Kentucky area I hope that you can attend.
"Conversations, Curated by Andrea Knarr" opens Monday, August 22, 2016 at 9 a.m. in the Main Gallery and continues until Friday, September 16, 2016. This exhibtion will highlight 31 regional printmakers. The Main Gallery is located on the Third Floor of the Fine Arts Center at Northern Kentucky University. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The night of the artist reception parking is avilable for free in parking lots I and D. New Approaches to Mixed Media Collage: 6 Week Online Workshop 

Join artist and author Randel Plowman for a 6-week online collage workshop.
Beginning and advanced artists alike will benefit from this hands-on online workshop filled with downloadable projects and video demos, discussions about materials and techniques and more.  In addition to creating collages, participants will also learn about matting and framing their work. Those signing up for the course will also have the opportunity to participant in a theme-based online exhibition. An exhibition book will also be published that will include everyone’s work.
Everyone will be able to download projects and video demos to work on at their own convenience, share work and comment on others work on a private group site and read weekly interviews from other artists working in collage and more.

Workshop starts: September 12 and will run through October 24, 2015
Some of the things that will be featured in this course:

  •   8- online collage projects with downloadable video demos
  •   Overview of materials and tools
  •   Weekly artists interviews
  •   Ability to share your work with others taking the course
  •   Documenting your work: scanning, photographing and preparing your work for the web.
  •   Overview of matting and framing your art
  •   Optional one on one critiques via email
  •   Opportunity to participate in a theme-based online group collage exhibition which will include an optional book with everyone’s work and more.  
A material list will be sent a few weeks before the course starts and are typically kept to a minimum with basis art supplies. The cost for the 6 week online course is only $120.
